Queen Mary's Hospital Urgent Care Centre The 24-hour walk-in Urgent Care Centre at Queen Mary's Hospital in Sidcup provides treatment for patients with conditions that are urgent but not life threatening. Cases such as worsening of a long-term condition like diabetes, fever, sore throat, coughs and colds, sickness and vomiting, swelling, bumps and bruises, simple fractures and cuts needing suturing. The Centre can also give advice (but not over the phone) about any general health worries. More serious cases are referred from the Urgent Care Centre to the A&E unit at Queen Mary's. These include severe abdominal pain, asthma that worsens, heavy bleeding in pregnant women, grossly deformed fractures and chronic sickness or diarrhoea. Someone with central chest pain or a suspected stroke should call 999. The A&E unit is open between 8am and 8pm. After 8pm, serious cases are sent by ambulance to another hospital.
