PROPOSED HOUSING ESTATE OF 67 DWELLINGS AT 139 NORTH CRAY ROAD

This is an appeal for members to support our opposition to the above building development on Green Belt and Heritage Land by submiting their views with Bexley Council quoting Ref: 18/02656/OUTM.

This can be done by email to the Case Officer: Mrs Helen Acton: Helen.Acton@bexley.gov.uk.

Or by letters to :

Development Management,
Civic Offices,
2 Watling Street,
Bexleyheath,
Kent DA6 7AT.

Pleasecopy your comments to our local councillors: Alan.Downing@bexley.gov.uk and Alex.Sawyer@bexley.gov.uk. And, if possible please, also to The Committee.

The deadline for comments is 15 November 2018.

It is vital that we have your support as, under the planning process, without letters from individual members, our letter will only count as one.

As a guide to what you may wish to say, the points we are making in our Objection letter include:-

- the scheme would be at the expense of North Cray's precious Green Belt.

- other landowners in the area (Manor Freehold Farm, Manor Farm, North Cray Riding School, Stuarts at 57 North Cray Road and Honeydale Farm) are waiting in the wings for such a breach so that they, too, can build on Green Belt land.

- the priority for house building should be brownfield, not greenfield nor the Green Belt.

- we were promised by Bexley in its Growth Strategy documentary that no house building would take place in North Cray, the Growth Strategy team promising us last year that the priority would be brownfield (previously developed) land, not the Green Belt.

- local infrastructure such as schools, doctors, chemists, shops, railway stations - and a good bus service - does not exist close to this site. This will result in additional cars and service vehicles on the North Cray Road. A likely min. of 67 cars, double this if  the family is a two-car one.

- the original application last year was for 83 houses on this site. No doubt, once the developer has obtained Ouline Planning Permission, the number will be increased from 67 to this previous figure.

- the scheme would not, as the developer claims, be in character with that of the surrounding area, which is open countryside.

- nor would it be possible for Bexley, as is argued by the developer, to readily continue to uphold the protection of North Cray's Green Belt.

- once our Green Belt has gone, it will be gone forever.
